Education and Political Programs

Campaign Schools/Training:
The NFRW and VFRW provide women with various training schools and workshops throughout the year that to better prepare women for running for office and/or assisting other Republicans get elected to office.  Upcoming events in Virginia include:
 
  • NFRW Campaign Management School was held on February 5, 2011 at the Embassy Suites in Richmond.  Information on how to register can be found here.

  • VFRW Officer Training sessions will be held between January and March at various locations in Virginia.  For more information about the training session in your area click here.
 
  • VFRW Leadership guide is designed to assist Club Officers during their tenure and to help prepare Club members for leadership roles in their local Clubs.  The guides can be downloaded in the Members section.

Legislative Center:

  • General Assembly Liaison
  • Legislative Day - was held on January 12, 2012 at the Richmond Marriott Downtown Hotel.

Candidate Recruitment:

The VFRW is asking for the names of VFRW members who will be candidates in 2012.  Please forward the following information to Alice Buford.

  • The name of the candidate;
  • Contact address, phone number and email address;
  • The position running for;
  • Whether there is opposition; and
  • The election date.



NOTE:  The VFRW Women's Candidate Committee reviews the candidates, presents a financial recommendation for each candidate to the Executive Board.  The Executive Board then recommends a final list to the VFRW Board of Directors.  The full BOD then may discuss the list and votes a final approval.


Jennifer Byler Institute:
The Jennifer Byler Institute (JBI) is a program offered by the Republican Party of Virginia, whose mission is to increase the number of effective Republican women in public service and Party leadership.  The program takes place over 8 months and covers topics such as leadership skills, fundraising, networking, campaign finance, grassroots activism, and more.  For more information about JBI please visit their website.

Conventions
:
The next VFRW Convention will take place on April 20-22, 2012 at the Williamsburg Lodge Colonial Williamsburg Hotel in Williamsburg.  The VFRW Convention Call has been posted to the Members section. (Login and password required.)
