VFRW Leadership Guide The VFRW has written a Leadership Guide to assist Club Officers during their 2007-2008 tenure and to help prepare Club members for leadership roles in their local Clubs. After an introductory section on our history and legacy, the Guide devotes a chapter to Club officers: President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recording Secretary, and Treasurer. Any member of the VFRW can order a disk or printed copy of the Guide by sending $5.00 to cover the cost of printing and shipping, or download it for free below. VFRW Political Studies Scholarship The VFRW instituted the Political Studies Scholarship in 2005. It had been a long-time goal of then-president, Kendall Rhodes, to begin this important education initiative during her tenure as president. Mary Ann Conrad and Carole Lougheed were Education Committee Co-chairmen with a keen interest in promoting education among young Republican women. They were chosen to facilitate Kendall’s goal. The scholarship is given to a Virginia collegiate woman, majoring in either government or political science, who displays a serious commitment to community involvement in politics. She must submit her college transcript, several recommendations, and write an essay on WOMEN’S HORIZONS IN POLITICS. The deadline for submitting these materials is March 1 of each calendar year. The VFRW Education Committee or Scholarship Committee selects the winner. The winner is announced at the VFRW Annual Convention where she reads her essay as she is honored at lunch after the business session on the first day.
